The forgotten festival that became Reading is coming home — for one extraordinary weekend of music, culture, and 70s magic.

The Story
The birthplace of Reading Festival.
In 1969 and 1970, Plumpton Racecourse hosted one of Britain's most legendary — yet overlooked — festivals. Pink Floyd. The Who. Ginger Baker. Black Sabbath. All played here in Sussex before noise complaints forced the event to relocate — eventually becoming what we now know as Reading Festival.
Now, more than 50 years on, that forgotten chapter of British counterculture is set to roar back into life.
